Gospel of Mark

Verse-by-Verse

For centuries, Christians worldwide have proclaimed the Gospel of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. Throughout history, countless believers have sacrificed greatly—even laying down their lives—to uphold its message, standing with unwavering conviction in its truth as God's power for salvation.

Given the Gospel’s profound significance, have you ever paused to reflect on John the Baptist’s role in its foundational moments through Christ?  Or why Jesus tied His divine authority to John’s baptism when He questioned His detractors whether it originated “from heaven or from men?"  Pastor Jay will delve into these pivotal questions and more as we continue our study of the Gospel of Mark.

After completing a detailed, verse-by-verse exposition of Mark 1:1-3, we will now shift our focus to Mark 1:4-8 over the coming weeks. Join us as we unpack these verses to deepen our understanding of John the Baptist’s mission and its connection to the fulfillment of God’s redemptive plan.

Q&A_AI_2.jpg

Every week, we set aside about 10 minutes to explore a key teaching of the Christian faith. Many of us hear terms or concepts regularly in church—yet even lifelong believers might not fully grasp their true biblical meaning or why they matter.  That’s where our Q&A (catechism) time comes in! Together, we’ll grow in understanding as we dig into these areas together.

Come along each week as we unpack these essential truths! We’ll revisit each topic multiple times to really let it sink in, and we’ll keep adding new subjects to explore as we go.

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved.

Believe

What we

Compelling Word Bible Church exists for the purpose of glorifying the true and living God, the creator of all things, and for the equipping of His people, the saints, and to make known the Gospel of Jesus Christ to those who are perishing.

We believe what God has said in His Word.  As a result, we are Christian and Biblical.  Though we could stop there, more specificity is generally necessary.  Thus, we are also Reformed, Baptistic, and Trinitarian.  It goes without saying that we affirm the Trinity, for to deny the Triune God is to reject the very essence of Christianity itself. Yet, we stress this truth because it concerns who God is. Get this wrong, and one's understanding the Gospel will be in error.
